OFFICE OF INDUSTRIAL LINKS

The Ministry of Higher Education highlights the importance of bridging academia and industry as an impetus towards healthy growth of our educational sector which would ensure its competitiveness, relevance and resilience to market trends and changes. In line with that, the Industrial Relation Division under the Ministry of Higher Education encouraged all universities to engage with the the industry to augment their teaching and development by the two entities. Mutual and reciprocal relationship between the two would help to strenghten both the academia and the industry. Furthermore, smart partnership between the industry and academia is hoped to propel our national economy towards prosperity, which in turn, would create demands for graduates when they join the labor market.

Of the many initiatives inspired by the MOHE to bridge academia and industry, starting in February 2015, the Ministry of Education Malaysia, then, inaugurated a programme called the CEO Industry and University Program which was created to engage strategically expertise from the industry to contribute towards the enrichment of the academia's teaching and learning environment, hence to increase graduate employability. Fourteen public universities in Malaysia including International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) participated in the programme.
