INTRODUCTION OF MAHALLAH FATIMAH AZ ZAHRA
On October 27, 2014, Mahallah Fatimah Az Zahra, one of the female mahallahs began its operation. This mahallah consists of four blocks that can accommodate almost 2000 students including Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) students from various kulliyyah particularly, Kulliyyah of Science, Kulliyyah of Pharmacy, Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences and Kulliyyah of Nursing.
The glorious name of Fatimah Az Zahra فَاطِمَة ٱلزَّهْرَاء was taken from the fourth and youngest daughter of Prophet Muhammad SAW and Siti Khadijah which is Fatima binti Muhammad. Throughout her lifetime until now, she was magnificently known with her nickname Zahra, زهرة that upholds the meaning of beauty, flower, bright and brilliant.
The high virtues and status that Fatima Az Zahra holds in the prophetic household is one to be acknowledged by all Muslims. It is significant for both men and women to know this saintly woman as her virtuous character fits the image of a good role model. One of her names includes At-Taherah (virtuous, pure) and this meaning is also related to the verse 33 in chapter Al-Ahzab:
"...إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا
Which means, “...Allah desires to remove all impurity from you, O People of the Household, and to purify you thoroughly.” Surely, Fatimah Az Zahra is the most suitable character to look up to in teaching the next generations to become a better version of His servant.

Located in Kuantan campus, our Mahallah Fatima Az Zahra (MFZ) is one of the two residential colleges for female students at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). It has four 10-storey buildings that can accommodate up to 2000 students, both undergraduate and postgraduate as well as providing other facilities including cafeteria, student activity centre, kioks, laundry, basketball court, gymnasium, sewing room, mini library and classroom. The mahallah management is led by a principal and assisted by fellows and administrative staff who are always committed to looking after the students’ welfare and programs. In addition, a Mahallah Representative Committee (MRC) is also set up to assist our management.
We understand that a study-life balance is very important. Hence, the mahallah with the help from MRC always seeks the opportunity to organise various activities that can benefit students beyond their academic life including community engagement, mental health, cultural, sport, da’wah and tarbiah programs. With the MRC assistance, not only we are able to secure excellent participation among our residents and IIUM communities but also have won several awards namely Most Active Mahallah in IIUM Kuantan 2018/2019 and Most Active MRC 2018/ 2019.
With a rewarding history of achievement, our mahallah continues to move forward together with confidence, pride, and enthusiasm. It meets our mahallah’s motto “Moving Forward, Hand in Hand”.

- Develop a culture at the mahallah based on the university's mission of "Islamization, Internationalization, Integration and Comprehensive Excellence (Triple - Ice) Education Centre.
- To provide an excellent, accessible, reliable and secure ICT infrastructure, facilities and services.
