Prof Dr Hanisah Mohd Noor started housemanship training at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan in year 2000 after completing her undergraduate study at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. In 2001, she served Hospital Kuala Terengganu as a medical officer in Paediatric Department, Accident and Emergency Department and Plastic Surgery Department. cer since 2003. She developed interest in teaching ever since she worked as the medical officer in Department of Psychiatry, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan and started getting involved in teaching of medical students of IIUM since 2003.
In March 2007, she joined Kulliyyah of Medicine, IIUM as a trainee lecturer in Psychiatry. She enrolled for Master of Medicine in Psychiatry in June 2007 in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She then served at the Department of Psychiatry, Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian and a few other gazetted Ministry of Health Hospitals namely Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak (for Forensic Psychiatry posting); Hospital Sultan Ismail (for Geriatric Psychiatry posting) and Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (for Addiction Psychiatry posting). She spent four years to complete the master program as required and awarded with Master of Medicine in Psychiatry, MMED (Psychiatry) in June 2011. She immediately returned to Kuantan to serve as a lecturer in Department of Psychiatry, Kulliyyah of Medicine, IIUM.
She was involved in curriculum revision for undergraduate psychiatric course. She was also directly involved in the curriculum preparation of the postgraduate Master of Medicine program for psychiatry in IIUM (MMED-Psy) which has started since 2018. She currently served as the Post Graduate Coordinator since January 2019 and a member of National Conjoint Board Committee of Psychaitry. She has been an invited lecturer for Kulliyyah of Nursing, Kulliyyah of Allied Health and Kulliyyah of Pharmacy, IIUM. She is a clinical examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Psychiatry.
Beside the teaching and learning roles, she also provided clinical consultation services in Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan, Kuantan, IIUM Specialist Center and IIUM Medical Center as a Clinical Psychiatrist. She managed general adult cases including psychotic disorders, mood and anxiety disorders as well as child and adolescent psychiatric cases. She also managed referrals from other departments within the hospital in need of liaison psychiatric services. She is directly involved in clinical supervision of medical officers (both in service and masters program trainee) and house officers attached in the Department of Psychiatry. She has also supervised PhD, Masters students and undergraduate students Final Year Projects from other Kulliyah's and other university. She is an invited speaker on related mental health and psychiatric topics in events organized by government and non-government sectors including schools in Kuantan. She has ongoing involvement in researches related to the field of psychiatry and have several publications in the past.
