On 15th March 2019, our university had sent a total of 14  students from Kuliyyah of Allied Health Sciences and Kuliyyah of Medicine to One Health Pilot Problem Based Learning (PBL)’ 2019.

This programme was one of the flagship programme under Malaysia One Health University Network (MyOHUN) and  had been held at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University Malaysia Kelantan (UMK).

The ‘One Health Pilot Problem Based Learning (PBL)’ 2019 successfully gathered multidisciplinary students from various universities background in one place. This includes students from medical, veterinary, and biomedical fields of study. The students were sorted and divided into several groups of ten people from the diverse field, year of study and institution. The case studies disseminated to the multidisciplinary participants comprised of Botulism, Atypical Trypanosomiasis, Melioidosis, Bisphenol A (BPA), and Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). The participants managed to work together in analyzing the given triggers and displayed the ability to incorporate their knowledge into practice under the guidance of supervisors. This approach should be ventured on and applauded as it is a brilliant means of student-centered pedagogy especially in solving health-related problems. Besides, this programme did not only help to establish the academic link between the participating universities but also enable the students to form the basis of teamwork and communication skills with the individual from different races, religions, and languages. In addition, the programme allows the students to promote their critical thinking and contextual understanding of a given subject. The programme ended at 5 p.m. on the same day and all the students departed to their respective universities.
