Asst. Prof. Dr. Syamsul Ahmad Arifin

Expertise: My expertise are in molecular pharmacology and cell biology related to endocrine system. I also interested in behavioral study using animal model and human genetics study of diabetes .

Research Interest: As a pscyhopharmacology scientist, I have interest for integrative biobehavioral research on the effect of drugs and their relationship with the mind and behavior. Examples include multidisciplinary research on the effect of drugs on human responses to illness and interrelationships of psychosocial, behaviour and biological process.

Research Interest: My research interests are in the area of neuroscience, focusing on the neurobiology of sleep, learning and memory, hippocampus, neurobehaviour, proteomics, microscopic studies (light, scanning and transmission electron microscopy) and natural products. I also have interests in nursing education, particularly in women’s health practice based on the Health Belief Model.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohd Hanif Bin Jainlabdin

Expertise: I have special expertise in the development of a PCR diagnostic assay for mycoses, including Candidiasis, Aspergillosis and Fusariosis, and I have a special interest in antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention. I also, have expertise in the validation of nucleic acid purification methods for the recovery of fungal DNA from blood and serum samples.

Research Interest: The incidence of invasive fungal infections (IFIs) has increased considerably in recent years among immunocompromised patients. Despite the availability of antifungal drugs, nosocomial infections cause high mortality rates, often exceeding 50%. The methods currently used for diagnosis of IFIs in hospitals have limitations such as lacking sensitivity, specificity and often unable to detect the infection in its early stages. Accurate diagnosis and therapies are important to reduce the mortality rates and reflect correct epidemiological data as well as successful delivery of the local antimicrobial resistance (AMR) agenda. Molecular methods based on nucleic acid detection from biological samples are promising as they can provide a rapid, specific and sensitive results. My main research focus is on the development, implementation and validation of molecular diagnostic platforms for clinical use. Combining the advancement of pathogens DNA biomarkers with methods of DNA amplification, my aim to develop a simple diagnostic method that can be applied at the point of care and which is amenable to future automation.

system-specific toxicological analysis, developmental and reproductive biology, epigenetic and
andrology. Currently, working on the endangered species conservation via the application of assisted
reproductive technology.
