Asst. Prof. Dr. Syamsul Ahmad Arifin

Expertise: My expertise are in molecular pharmacology and cell biology related to the endocrine system. I am also interested in a behavioural study using animal models and human genetics study of diabetes.

Research Interest: As a psychopharmacology scientist, I have an interest in integrative biobehavioral research on the effect of drugs and their relationship with the mind and behaviour. Examples include multidisciplinary research on the effect of drugs on human responses to illness and interrelationships of psychosocial, behaviour and biological process.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Lokman Md Isa

Expertise: Molecular genetics; cell interaction which involved human reproductive hormones study. Stem cell technology; Human germ cell development & spermatogenesis from stem cells, regenerative medicine stem cell and andrology study. Principle of pharmacology (Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic). Quantitative and qualitative research related to population and behavioural study of reproductive and man infertility

Research Interest: My principal research interest is stem cell technology which involves human germ cell development & spermatogenesis from stem cells. Primary cell culture derivation and primary to cell line development. Animal study related to reproductive science. Biobanking and cloning technology for endangered species of animal. A population study of reproductive and man infertility, psychology and drug addiction.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Noratikah Othman

Expertise: My expertise are in bioinformatics/computational biology that involved the study of the evolution of protein/genes (construction of phylogenetic tree) and protein modelling. I am also an expert in molecular microbiology and DNA recombinant including cloning, genetic modification such as mutation, insertion and deletion.

Research Interest: Collaborative interdisciplinary research focuses on how genetics, behavioural, and environmental variables interact to influence health.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Norlinda Binti Abd. Rashid

Expertise: Neuroanatomy; molecular neuroscience; cellular imaging and biology of the gastrointestinal and nervous systems; hippocampal learning and memory; neurobehavioural study using animal models; human anatomy and physiology.

Research Interest: My research interests are in the area of neuroscience, focusing on the neurobiology of sleep, learning and memory, hippocampus, neurobehaviour, proteomics, microscopic studies (light, scanning and transmission electron microscopy) and natural products. I also have interests in nursing education, particularly in women’s health practise based on the Health Belief Model.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohd Hanif Bin Jainlabdin

Expertise: I specialise in developing PCR diagnostic assays for mycoses, such as Aspergillosis, Candidiasis and Fusariosis infections in humans. In addition, I have expertise in validating nucleic acid purification methods for the recovery of fungal DNA from blood and serum samples.

Research Interest: Accurate diagnosis and therapies are essential to reduce the mortality rates and reflect reliable epidemiological data for the successful delivery of the local antimicrobial resistance (AMR) agenda. Molecular methods based on nucleic acid detection from biological samples are promising as they can provide rapid, specific and sensitive results. My research focuses on developing, implementing, and validating molecular diagnostic platforms for clinical use. In addition, I aim to develop a point-of-care diagnostic technology that is amenable to future automation.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Redzuan Nul Hakim bin Abdul Razakn

Expertise: In vivo and in vitro study, antioxidant analysis, spermatogenesis and sperm analysis, quantitative polymerase chain reaction, high-performance liquid chromatography analysis, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, fetal skeletal examination, DNA damage analysis, microscopic and electron microscopic imaging analysis.

Research Interest: I have a great interest in the efficacy analysis of natural products, general and system-specific toxicological analysis, developmental and reproductive biology, epigenetic and andrology. Currently, working on endangered species conservation via the application of assisted reproductive technology.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Tengku Faris

Expertise: Stem cell research includes induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and embryonic stem cells (ESCs); genetic disease models using CRISPR/Cas9; organogenesis; genomics; cellular reprogramming; MODY5; multicystic kidney disease; genotoxicity of nanoparticles; Islamic ethical framework in the use of stem cells; the use virtual reality in healthcare.

Research interest: I have a long-term interest in modelling genetic diseases using stem cells. This includes the manipulation of genes in the early stages of human development. My focus is to correct faulty genes that contributed to genetic diseases. I am also interested in the analysis of neurobehavioral and neurodevelopmental patterns in adolescence; and pathomechanism of chronic kidney disease.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Azmir Bin Ahmad

Expertise: Polymerase chain reaction, short interfering RNA (siRNA), minimally- and non-invasive molecular diagnostic and biomarker discovery.

Research interest: My research interest is basically on early detection of diseases, mainly cancers, through minimally- and non-invasive techniques. Even though my experiences are mostly on molecular diagnostic, other techniques for early detection, such as self-examination techniques for testicular and breast cancers, are also within my interest. Other than that, I also have an interest in the use of stingless bee products, including honey, bee bread and propolis, for various diseases and healthcare.
