MASTER OF SCIENCE IN DENTISTRY (MScD)/ MASTER OF OROFACIAL SCIENCES (MOFSc) & DOCTOR IN ORTHODONTICS (DrOrth) (1+3 Dental Specialty Programme)
This application is for the 1+3 programme of Master of Science in Dentistry (UiTM) or Master of Orofacial Sciences (MAHSA) followed by Doctor in Orthodontics (IIUM).

Entry Requirements:
1) Applicant with Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent qualifications
2) A minimum of 2 years clinical practice after basic degree, excluding the Master’s training
3) Registered with MDC and hold current APC or registered with the dental regulatory body in another country and eligible to be granted a Temporary Practicing Certificate (TPC) by the MDC
4) Health clearance according to UiTM and IIUM policy.
5) 2 referee reports
6) Passed entrance interview
7) Successful completion of the primary examination of the Joint Dental Faculties MJDF/MFDS/IMOrth or equivalent is desirable
8) IELTS overall band of at least 7.0

Applicants to clinical programmes need to provide evidence to the University that they are free from Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C upon acceptance into the programme.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN DENTISTRY (MScD), UITM / MASTER OF OROFACIAL SCIENCE (MOFSc), MAHSA
Programme Structure
The master programme is a scientific foundation course for the Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry.
The programme of study shall consist of major or compulsory courses: Research Design & Biostatistics, Multidisciplinary Health Sciences, Core Medical & Oral Sciences and together with the elective courses (Orthodontics).
The programme courses, professional examination, continuous assessments and the research proposal must each be completed satisfactorily and passed.
Duration of Study
· Full time only
· Minimum 1 year (2 semesters); maximum 2 years (4 semesters)

DOCTOR IN ORTHODONTICS (DrOrth), IIUM
Upon successful completion of the MScD (UiTM), Residents shall proceed to enroll in the Doctor in Orthodontics (IIUM), a three-year doctorate Level 8 MQF programme.
Programme Structure:
This course is designed to provide clinical and academic training for future specialists in clinical orthodontics in a highly professional and fulfilling environment.
This three-year full-time course aims to equip a Resident with the skills needed to perform as a competent Specialist in Orthodontics, with focus on the clinical, theoretical and research areas required for provision of adequate patient care.
Upon successful completion of the course, the Resident will be awarded with the qualification of Doctor in Orthodontics IIUM.

• Minimum 3 years (6 semesters); maximum 4 years (8 semesters)

MASTER OF SCIENCE INDENTISTRY (MScD) UiTM OR MASTER OF ORAL SCIENCE PROSTHODONTIC (MOSc Pros)UM & DOCTOR IN PROSTHODONTICS (DrProstho) IIUM
INTRODUCTION
This is the 1+3 programme that begin with either Master of Science in Dentistry (MScD) (UiTM) or Master of Oral Science Prosthodontic (MOSc Pros) (UM) followed by Doctor in Prosthodontics (IIUM)
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years clinical practice after graduation from dental schoolexcluding the master's training.
- 3 options for language requirements:
- IELTS overall band of at least 6.0
- Minimum score (TOEFL): Paper-based:550;Computer-based:213;Internet- based: 79.
- Minimum Score (EPT-IIUM administered English Placement) overall band of 6.0
- Registered with MDC and holds current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) orregistered with the dental regulatory body in another country and eligible to begranted a Temporary Practising Certificate (TPC) by MDC.
- Applicants need to provide evidence to the university that they are free from Hep B,Hep C, HIV and other infectious diseases upon acceptance into the programme.
- Two (2) referee reports.
- Passed entrance interview and/or prescribed test.

- Successful completion of the primary examination of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeon (RACDS), Membership of The Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF) orequivalent.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
- The MScD and MOSc Pros programme are the full-time scientific foundation courses for theDoctorate in Clinical Dentistry.
- The MScD programme shall consist of major or compulsory courses: Research Design &Biostatistics, Multidisciplinary Health Sciences and together with the elective courses(Prosthodontics).

MASTER OF DENTAL SCIENCES (Research mode) MQA/PSA- 14868
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
This is a research-based programme, consisting of full research (100%) work leading to thesis submission. Students are required to present and defend the research proposal in Semester 1. Assessment will be based on the submitted thesis and Post Thesis Examination Meeting (PTEM). All details regarding the research proposal and thesis submission are according to IIUM Postgraduate Regulations (Revised 2020) handbook. Students also need to fulfil the minimum publication requirement as stipulated by the university as graduation requirement.
COURSES
Students are required to attend Research Methodology (COURSE CODE: DENT 7201) and Unified Islamic Input (COURSE CODE: DENT 7202) in Year 1. Both courses are audit-based.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
General Requirement
In accordance with the IIUM Postgraduate Regulations (Revised 2020).
Specific Requirements
Obtained a bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Dentistry or a related Science or Health Sciences with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 and above from IIUM or another recognized Institute of Higher Learning; or obtained another recognized qualification equivalent to a bachelor’s degree (Hons); or have relevant professional qualifications and experience recognized by the University Senate; or get a CGPA of less than 2.75 but have work experience in the field applied for.
Appropriate research proposals are required for applications for admission to a master’s degree.
English Proficiency Certificate
TOEFL-minimum 550 (paper-based); or
IELTS - Minimum Band 6.0; or
IIUM English Placement Test (EPT) – minimum 6.0
However, exemptions for English language proficiency certificates may be granted to students who have taken the program and graduated from universities that use English as a medium of instruction in English-speaking countries or students who graduated from IIUM from programs that use English as a medium of instruction (IIUM Postgraduate Regulation (revised 2020; point 1.4.1.2).
