Gombak, 3 November 2021. In training students for harmonisation of Shari’ah and law, students should be able to identify and to promotes common principles that could be found in Shari’ah and law.

Harmonisation of Shari’ah and law is the very mission of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws exemplified by the essence of the tireless efforts of the founding father of the Kulliyyah, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Ahmad Mohamed Ibrahim.

Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib, the Dean of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws welcomes the second session of the Harmonisation Talk Series under the Harmonisation of Shari'ah and Law Unit which is led by Prof Dr Azizah Mohd. He emphasises the importance Shari’ah and law faculties to sit down together to enhance the programmes and pathway to better reflect the need for harmonisation.

The speaker for the occasion is Prof Dato’ Dr Ahmad Hidayat Buang. He shares the transformation of Shari’ah studies in the Akademi Pengajian Islam Universiti Malaya (APIUM) where the curriculum provides professional Shari’ah courses and exposes students to more law courses such as constitutional law, administrative law, equity and trust and contract. The students also have the opportunity to do double major to have more exposure to law courses.

Taking note of the double degree programmes at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) under which students may obtain LLB(Hons) and LLB(Shari’ah)(Hons) and the integrated degree for the Bachelor of Shari’ah and Law at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USIM), it is hoped that students from Shari’ah studies may seamlessly read law to obtain better harmonised perspective of Shari’ah and law.

Prof Dr Nik Ahmad Kamal Nik Mahmod moderates the event.
