Safiyyah bint ‘Abdul Muttalib & Safiyyah bint Huyay ibn Akhtab
There are two prominent 'Safiyyah" in Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. life, “Safiyyah binti Abdul Muttalib’’ was a companion and aunt of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) while "Safiyah bint Huyay ibn Akhtab" was one of the wives of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. She was, along with all other wives of Muhammad, titled Umm-ul-Mu'mineen or the "Mother of Believers".
Safiyyah binti Abdul Muttalib
A resolute and fearless woman. The first woman to kill a polytheist fighting in the path of Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala. She gave birth to and raised the first person to unsheathe his sword for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta ‘ala, Zubair ibn al ‘Awwam radiya Llahu ‘anhu. A blessed woman of strong character, Safiyyah bint ‘Abdul Muttalib al Hashimiyyah al Qurashiyyah radiya Llahu ‘anha. The paternal aunt of Rasulullah S.A.W and the full sister of Hamzah ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib radiya Llahu ‘anhu. The only aunt of the Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam who embraced Islam and migrated to Madinah. Truly Safiyyah is a unique example for the Muslim woman. True to herself, resolute, brave, intelligent, and fearless. No amount of difficulties would shake her resolve.
Safiyah bint Huyay ibn Akhtab
As the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Safiyah played an important role in the personal life of the Prophet (sallallahu 'alyhi wa sallam) and in the course of his calling people to Islaam. She was a woman of outstanding qualities, from a noble lineage, and the beauty which her family was famed for had reached its pinnacle in her features. It was this beauty that kindled the sentiments of possessiveness in the other wives of Rasulullah S.A.W.
