The programme was aimed to create awareness among the Muslim Orang Asli community regarding Isra’ Mikraj event and its importance in the teaching of Islam. We also taught them about the arrival of our holy month of Ramadhan, the awaited month for the Muslim community. Our long term goals include to improve their education quality, to reduce the poverty among their community and to have more villagers to practice the way of Islam.

Kg Orang Asli Bukit Bangkong comprises of 31 families. 96 people are Muslims, with 44 male and 52 female. The rest practice Kristian and Animism. Most of the children there went to SK Gambang and SK Mahkota during their primary school. Most of the villagers are farmers, shop helpers, quarry workers, lorry drivers, and laborer. The programme started at 6.30pm with the opening remarks by Izdihar Ishak, Deputy Dean of Academic and Industry Linkages. It was followed by the speech from Our Dean, Tn Hj. Murshid B. Kassim. He mentioned about the importance of this programme and the concept of “Rahmatallilalamin” that IIUM or Islam being the rahmat to the entire world. The programme continued with Maghrib prayer and tazkeerah on Isra’ Mikraj by Ustaz Hanif Arkurni, the Deputy Director of CFS IIUM Mosque. The programme ended with Isyak prayer and souvenir presentation to the village elders, Ayahanda Tn. Hj. Hashim and JKKK of Kg Batu 14.

Alhamdulillah the programme met its objective. We have created the bond between the community there and CFS Staff. More programmes will be held in future to transform the villagers so that they too will enjoy the fruits of modernization and Islamization.
