Professor Dr. Abdi Omar Shuriye is a Professor of Contemporary Islamic Political Thought and Islamic Professional Ethics (al-fikr al-Islami al-siyasi al-mu‘asir wa al-akhlaqiyat al-Islamiyah al-mihaniyah). Dr Shuriye has 21 years of teaching, research and administrative experiences. Professor Shuriye is also a member of various national and international professional bodies, committees and organizations. Apart from being active in research, Professor Shuriye taught diverse subjects in different academic levels including undergraduate, master and Ph.D levels. Among courses taught are: Political Ideologies, Islamic Political Thought, Islamic Civilization, Islamic Professional Ethics, Islamic Worldview, and Islam and Science. During the course of this period, Professor Shuriye was awarded the Best Teacher Award. In addition to research and teaching, Professor Shuriye has vast administrative experiences. Among notable positions held are: Academic Coordinator for Students, Coordinator for University Required Courses, Head of Department, and Deputy Dean, Academic and Planning. Currently, Professor Shuriye is the Dean of The Centre for Postgraduate Studies and a member of the University Senate.
