INTRODUCTION

Quantum information science is now an established interdisciplinary area based on the idea that information obtained and processed in quantum systems is largely different from classical information. It has attracted scientists from various traditional disciplines of physics, mathematics, computer science and engineering.

The present conference and workshop is the continuation of existing series of Asia-Pacific Conference on Quantum Information Science and Asia-Pacific Workshop on Quantum Information Science. The last conference and workshop are listed below:

Fifth Asia-Pacific Conference in Quantum Information Science, 21-24 August 2010, Jinci Hotel, Taiyuan, China. Organiser: State Key Laboratory of Quantum Optics & Quantum Optic Devices, Institute of Opto-Electronics, Shanxi University, People Republic of China. The 5 th Asia-Pacific Workshop on Quantum Information Science in conjunction the Festschrift in honour of Vladimir Korepin, 25-28 May 2011, Nanyang Executive Centre, NTU, Singapore. Organisers: Institute of Advanced Studies, Nanyang Technological University and Department of Physics, National University of Singapore, Singapore

The present event will be the sixth of both conference and workshop combined. It is jointly organized by:

  1. Institute for Mathematical Research, Universiti Putra Malaysia (main)
  2. Faculty of Science, Faculty of Computer Science & Information Technology, and Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia
  3. Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya
  4. Kulliyah of Science, International Islamic University, Malaysia

This event is in part held in conjunction with the Tenth Anniversary of Institute for Mathematical Research, Universiti Putra Malaysia.
The conference part of the event will carry contributed papers relating to the recent progress of quantum information science. The workshop part consists of expositions by invited speakers on contemporary topics of quantum information science in relation to quantum foundations. The workshop is also double-billed as EQuaLS 6 (Expository Quantum Lecture Series 6), an annual event carried out by the Institute.
